David received his Master of Laws in taxation in 1982 from New York University and chaired the Carlton Fields Tax Practice for over 25 years. He is the General Counsel of Amalie Oil Company and a member of CSU College of Law Board of Visitors. David’s practice has been in state and federal taxation planning and controversy before the IRS and state taxing authorities. He has represented many of the Fortune 100 professional sports teams and professional athletes in tax planning and controversies, saving clients over $100 million in taxes. He was board certified in taxation by the Florida Bar from 1987 through 2022 and was a member of the Florida Bar Tax Certification Committee. David served for decades in the Tax Section of the Florida Bar as a Director of the State and Local Tax Committee and as an Executive Director of the Tax Section. He served as the shareholder and Chair of Tax Practice (1994 – 2017) in Carlton Fields, PA. David has spoken and written on state and federal tax topics for the Tax Section and the NYU Annual Federal Tax Program. David has been inducted into the Hall of Fame in taxation for Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. One of his co-authored articles was cited by the Florida Supreme Court.
