Steven H. Steinglass, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School, is Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He joined the faculty in 1980 after practicing as a legal aid lawyer in Wisconsin, and he served as dean of the law school from 1996 to 2005. His areas of teaching included Civil Procedure, Federal Courts, Clinical Education, Section 1983 (Civil Rights) Litigation, and Ohio Constitutional History. From 2013 to 2017, he served as the Senior Policy Advisor of the bi-partisan Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission. He is the co-author of The Ohio Constitution: A Reference Guide, which has been described as an “essential research tool for lawyers, judges, and scholars,” and the author of a two-volume treatise on Section 1983 Litigation in State Courts. He has argued two cases before the United States Supreme Court Practice and made presentations at continuing legal education and other programs in more than 20 states.
