Dean Howard L. Oleck

(1911-1995)

    Howard Oleck served as a widely respected professor of law, assistant dean, and twice as interim dean at Cleveland State University College of Law from 1956-1974. During his tenure, he was faculty advisor for the CSU Law Review, chair of the ABA Legal Education Standards Committee, and president of the League of Ohio Law Schools. He was a prolific writer and scholar, authoring 21 nonprofit treatises and several law books. He drafted several state nonprofit statutes while serving as a member of the Legislative Commission on Nonprofit Corporations. He also authored three published novels, one of which became the basis for a television miniseries. He taught at Wake Forest and Stetson before retiring in 1981; the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus was bestowed upon him at both CSU College of Law and Stetson.
